Eleanor Haley, MS and Litsa Williams, MA, LCSW-C are co-founders of the grief community What’s Your Grief. Together they run the grief education and support websites ‘What’s Your Grief’, ‘Photogrief’, ‘The Funeral Friend’, and ‘Grief in Six Words’, accessed by nearly 5 million people every year. Both are mental health professionals with a collective 20+ years experience working in grief and bereavement in Baltimore, MD.

Learning Objectives:

  1. The participant will learn and understand the foundations of modern grief theory put forth by Freud and Kubler-Ross.

  2. The participant will explore the evolution of grief theory beyond Freud and Kubler-Ross, identifying the most current evidence-based grief models.

  3. Participants will consider appropriate applications of each grief theory in their practice setting, including the benefits and limitations of utilizing grief theory psycho-education with clients.
