Deanna has been practicing acupuncture since 1993. In addition, she has been teaching at the Maryland University of Integrative Health (formerly known as Tai Sophia Institute) since 1999. Acupuncture is being integrated into Western medicine. Research has shown acupuncture's effectiveness and offers explanations on how this natural therapy can biochemically help control anxiety and depression because it is able to calm the sympathetic system by allowing the body to release neurotransmitters that can control a person’s stress level. The lens of the 5 Elements is a very useful way to link with the zones of our body, emotions, feelings and thoughts that come to us from the Indian and Tibetan traditions.

Learning Objectives:

  2. Gain a better understanding of how effective acupuncture is for anxiety and depression.
