Trevor Larson, Intern

Courtney Stevenson, LCSW-C

Trevor is currently attending classes at Liberty University to become a Licensed Professional Counselor and will be graduating in August 2017. Trevor is currently a military spouse to his wife commissioned in the United States Coast Guard.  Prior to becoming a clinical intern, Trevor has worked in several arenas, including the NFL, Nike, NSA, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and is currently a Background Investigator for the Federal Government.  Theoretically, Trevor believes in a Solution-Based Therapy approach along with incorporating aspects of Gestalt therapy, Transactional Analysis, Rational Emotional Behavior therapy, Exposure therapy, and Psychodynamic therapy.  Trevor focuses on key words such as: character, attitudes, beliefs, morals, behaviors, values, significance, security, overcome, motivations, and hope.  Many individuals have ambivalent feelings about therapy; they have both hope and fear about the session. The therapeutic relationship will be based on acknowledging the facts and feelings through the client’s insight. Talking and facing issues can be very hard, but more often than not it’s even more helpful.  You have made a wise decision to try counseling.
